1. For What It’s Worth                                                              - 199 Days and counting

Unneeded Drama in Our Lives
Who else could use less unneeded drama in our lives?  Is it just me or does it seem like there is so much unneeded drama going on these days?  I can tell you that I am sick of it!  I am hoping that when we get out on the road that we can avoid most of, if not all of the BS that seems to ruin our days. The older I get, the less I want to deal with trivial people and their trivial lives.  I want a more-simpler life, to be able to enjoy the simple pleasures, rather than having to deal with trivial issues.  Life is too short to waste it and valuable energy listening to and reacting to wasteful things. I just refuse to do it any longer. I am revolting and refuse to cooperate with these people any longer.  Rise up against the machine!

Writing
I have heard from several people (Readers of our blog) that I should consider writing some kind of project.  I do have a few writing projects in work but they have reached a standstill lately.  I am not too sure what I might write about and exactly what genre to write in.  Should I write an Autobiography, Fiction or Science Fiction novel or short stories?  I heard that you should write about what you know. Well, that may be easier said than done. What do I know about? Well, I do have a background in Aviation and Aeronautics, Space Systems, and Aerospace Systems. I also know about motorcycles, foreign cars, and some thrill-seeking activities such as motorsports racing, skydiving, and anything that goes fast.  I do enjoy sports at times but have kinda shied away from it these past few years. I am just not that interested in it much lately.

I do enjoy the survival type television shows on TV that deal with trying to live off the grid in the great outdoors. Not like the end of the world prepper-types who expect to try to survive a nuclear event or even some kind of a collapse of society. That is not what I mean or even think about. I’m referring to the Survivorman kind of thing, such as you are out on some outdoor adventure and you get stranded or lost and you have to live off of what you have and what you can do to make your situation better or even survivable.  I would enjoy attending a survival school again. I wholeheartedly believe that an old dog can learn new tricks and I am a testament to that.

I guess I got a bit off track with my writing theme. I guess I could write about places we desire to adventure off to on our back roads trip.  This would be some sort of prelude to the adventure of a lifetime. I do recall from past adventures and travels that the unexpected occurrences are sometimes the most memorable ones that are embedded into your long-term memory. Driving a VW Bus all over the US back roads will afford us some unexpected issues and adventures, I am sure.  I believe Martin Buber said, “All journeys have secret destinations of which the traveler is unaware!”  Those things are what will make our travels adventurous and memorable. What lies around the next bend?  What new adventure awaits for us over the next hill?  What exciting or memorable character will we meet today?  The unknown, the pleasant surprise, is what we are craving for on this adventure of a lifetime.
