1. For What It’s Worth                                                              - 203 Days and counting

Road Trip Supplying Effort
As we have mentioned previously, we have been stocking up and getting needed supplies together for our 2015 Road Trip hopefully starting next spring. We have been ordering most of these things online and having them delivered to our flat (aka apartment). It is like being a kid at Christmas when I come home and there sits a box waiting to be opened. Yesterday the solar shower I ordered came. It is basically a 5 gallon black bladder that holds water with a small hose and nozzle that you leave in the sun to warm up. When it gets warm (or not), you hang it up and take a very short shower to get the majority of your body clean. I expect to get use it to get wet, then soap up the body and hair then rinse quickly. I am sure it will be very quick the very first time I try to use it.  I guess using it will be better than nothing.

Points of Interest
We are still looking for points of interests for our road trip. We do appreciate all that we have received, but we are still looking for more.  So, put on your thinking caps and fuel our curiosity and provide us some feedback soon.  It seems like our Pacific or west coast has a log list of things to explore, but the list continues to grow. I am estimating that just traveling up the west coast to Seattle will take many weeks. We don’t plan on traveling every day really.  If we find a nice place and want to set up and enjoy our adventure there for a while, that is perfectly understandable.  As long as we have food, water and a quiet environment, we could stay for quite a long time.

Dual Survival
I enjoy all the survival shows, including Dual Survival. If you haven’t ever seen this show, it has two guys with totally different backgrounds and survival techniques dropped off in some remote location and they need to try to get rescued or get out and back to civilization somehow.  One of the original guys, Cody, was a hippie dude that lives off of the grid out in the desert in Arizona who is always barefoot.  Apparently the show’s producers decided to get rid of him and brought in a new guy pretty similar.  I liked Cody as I am sure many other people did also, and I was really bummed out when he was let go. He was very intelligent and lived the way we all wish we could. Now they have a new guy, Matt, who is his replacement. He is a good guy but we would rather have Cody back. Our best wishes go out to Cody and he will be missed! Matt is similar to Cody that he lives off of the grid also and is kinda a hippe guy too. Last night’s episode, the two of these guys, Joe & Matt, were walking along and Matt looked all around and smiled and said this place is great and I would not mind staying here for a while. The other guy, Joe, a former Ranger, Marine and military guy, was like, I’m here to get rescued not to go camping. I can see this will be interesting because this new guys is the complete opposite of Joe. We will see how it goes in the future.

Living Off the Grid and Boondocking
During our road trip, I desire to be able to live completely off of the grid and to be self-sufficient all on our own.  I think we will take a few long camping outings after we retire just to see how we will cope. Maybe we will do a few week-long trips here and there before we take on the epic US back roads trip we have been planning for? This way we can concentrate on trying to live self-sufficiently and all on our own. I am hoping to able to live totally on our own for at least a week.

Hockey
Tonight is Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals being held here in LA.  As I have mentioned before, I hope it goes to 7 games just to see more hockey.  I hope the Rangers show up to play and are not severely dominated by the Kings.  I guess we can only hope for the best. I would like to see some good hockey and a close game tonight.  I wish I could still play the game, a game I miss so very much and for so long now.  One of the greatest games ever played as far as I am concerned.

Dogs
Do you have a dog?  Did you have one at one time in your life before?  Wasn’t life so much better with a dog in it?  I love my dog, Snoopy.  I am the best butler she ever had!  I know she can be a handful at times, but she is worth it in the long run.  She is a good companion at home and on the road also!  She is my copilot when we take Linus out anywhere, even if it is just to the beach, tavern or especially camping.  She does well and goes to sleep pretty much when she is told it is time to do so.  She will be my primary copilot on our US back roads trip next year!  J

Music from when it was Real Music
I love music and many of the bands from the 1960s and early 1970s. Even some were great in the 80s and 90s. Everyone from The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Buffalo Springfield, Three Dog Night, Badfinger, Tommy James and The Shondells, The Beach Boys, Van Morrison, Them, Blind Faith, Bread, Cream, CCR, Deep Purple, Frank Zappa, Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Jim Croce, Jimi Hendrix, Joe Cocker, Led Zepellin, Little Feat, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Monkees, The Moody Blues, The Who, Pink Floyd, The Doobie Brothers, Queen, REO Speedwagon, Rod Stewart, Simon & Garfunkel, Steely Dan, Supertramp, Ted Nugent, Tower Of Power, U2, UB40, Van Halen, Yes, and ZZ Top.  I am sure I missed documenting lots of other good ones, but let me hear your thoughts, okay?
