Happy Birthday to our buddy Tony T!  May you have many more!

1. For What It’s Worth                                                                             - 171 Days and counting

Travels & Destinations
I’ve been reading some blog pages online (of course) about people traveling and living on the road, some in VW buses, some in SUVs, and some in small campers such as Airstreams, etc.  I really don’t see a lot of unhappy people living this kind of lifestyle.  Everyone seems to really enjoy the freedom, the simplicity, and the adventure it has to offer.  Many of these people even are homeschooling their children while they live traveling on the road.

We are not really interested in traveling on any toll roads or highways, but only the two-lane back roads that are all over this great country of ours.  When you dream about a road trip, isn’t the small little back roads is what you think of?  I know I do.  Stopping at some Mom & Pop diner for a bite to eat located down some road where the interstate highway has long forgotten that is most likely only patronized by locals and Shunpikers (People who avoid toll ways and turnpikes) like ourselves.  Isn’t that where the real America is located, on some back road less traveled?  Isn’t that the whole reason to take a road trip… to explore and to have an adventure?  Isn’t that what Robert Frost was writing about in his epic poem?  To be an individual, to follow your heart, to make all the difference when traveling!

What about all of the old roadside attractions such as the largest ball of string, or the museum of weird things, or any other kind of kitschy and non-serious things that may catch your imagination?  Yeah, I want to see that stuff, even if it is just an excuse to get out and stretch your legs and give Snoopy a chance to do her thing.  I want to see that historical marker that we would have never seen off of the highway, with all the hustle and bustle of the heavy traffic.  I want to see that stuff, no matter how stupid it may be.  Maybe I’ll make a collection of stupid things we took a photo of on our road trip?  There should be ample opportunity to do so traveling all over this vast country called America, the Beautiful!

To be continued…

Famous Quotes  (Previous Game)

Who is credited for saying the following quote?

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Answer:  Teddy Roosevelt
