                                                                            Snoopy and Her Butler

For What It’s Worth                                                                             - 96 Days and counting

Waking up once again out in the middle of nowhere I believe is one of the most refreshing ways to start your day.  A cup of good coffee can make the start of that day extremely grand!  Crisp and clean morning air in the middle of a huge grove of trees makes such a nice beginning to a morning. So, we soon broke camp and fired up the cycles and was again on the road.  The engines on the bikes run so well in the cool morning air.  It entices you to get out there and ride early in the day before the air heats up.  Nothing like it in the world!  I do miss those early morning motorcycle rides.

About this ride I do remember stopping at a small cliff alongside the road for a self shot photo opportunity.  I had a nice background set up and used my timer to get a shot of Billy and me together.  I also remember stopping to take a photo of a reservoir located in a valley with zig zagging mountains.  I remember thinking this is a beautiful part of the country and how very lucky I was to be experiencing this moment in time. Sometimes you just have to live in the moment and I did took time to savor that day.  The views were so very awesome and the ride was quite enjoyable throughout that day through all those mountains.  It makes me look foreword so much to our future road trip.  A motorcycle road trip is and awesome way to travel on all those back roads.

After another full day of riding, we finally arrived at my buddy’s place in Grass Valley.  Grass Valley is just as it sounds, nothing much but hippies and rednecks living there.  It is fitting for my friends because they both probably fall right there in the middle somewhere.  Long hair, beards, etc.  They were the original bearded wonders.  We stayed there over two nights partying, drinking beer and riding off road vehicles over at their friend’s place.  He was a rich guy and coincidentally his name was, get this… Rich Guy!  Really and truly, that was his name. I couldn’t believe it! We also went to the dirt track races, which they also we involved in down here in Southern California when they lived down here.  It was good seeing Ron and his brother during our visit.  We found out some time later that his brother had passed away and I probably took the last photo of him alive when I was there.  I was really bummed out when I found that out too!  :(

After a couple of days there visiting with my friends, we again hit the road and headed east towards Truckee and the north side of Lake Tahoe.  We stopped at a Denny’s diner and parked our bikes so we could keep an eye on our bikes and gear.  We kind of got the cold shoulder when we walked in, which was a bit shocking since we were just at a Denny’s and not some nice place.  Anyway, we ordered our food, ate it relatively quickly after it arrived, and were out the door in maybe 30 minutes total.  We just wanted t get out of there.  Too many eyes staring at us made us both nervous.  We were feeling much better after we were back on the road once again.

(To be continued…)
