Another Great Loss
We have lost another dear friend to all of us Class of 1977
and fellow RHS classmates this morning, Mr Johnny Smolik. Please read the
Memorial Tribute in our blog page listing. We all will miss your infectious
smile and your laughter. Thanks for all the smiles you shared with us all… You
will be missed, my friend!

Go Blackhawks!
The Blackhawks squeaked out a win on Sunday from the LA
Kings 3-1 to take a 1-0 lead in the Western Conference Finals on their way to
another Stanley Cup Championship. They started like gangbusters playing really
well for the first 10 minutes or so before the Kings finally awoke to play some
much better hockey. After scoring the first goal in the First Period, the
Captain scored our second goal only to have it reversed by the officials saying
he interfered with the goaltender and the goal was disallowed. Just a minute or so later, LA scored on Corey
Crawford to tie the game at 1 goal apiece. This situation put a damper on us
fans and the Hawks trudged through to about midway in the second period until
Duncan Keith scored on a slap shot to put us up on top again 2 goals to 1. Later on in the third period, The Captain
Jonathan Toews scored on a wrist shot to give us a slight cushion with just
under 4 minutes remaining in regulation. We held off the Kings when they pulled
their goaltender late in the period to put offensive pressure on us, but to no
avail, as we held on to a 3-1 victory to put one win in the books. With just three more games to win to advance
to the Stanley Cup Finals and a chance to win back-to-back Championships, all
us Blackhawks fans are in anticipation and are full of hope. Game 2 in the
United Center occurs this Wednesday night at 7PM locally in Chicago and 5PM
Pacific Time out here. Go Blackhawks!
LA Fair-weather fans
My buddy who lives down in the OC was rooting for the
Anaheim Ducks. But when they got
eliminated by the Kings, of course now he is a Kings fan. He says he just roots
for California teams, which is what LA fair-weather fans do. Whatever is
convenient, they are all for it! How about that LA NFL team? The only sport
they have going for them out here is surfing, which is one of the best sports
ever, especially longboarding. Anyway,
we will see what happens soon!
Things that Really Piss me off
California
I hate when people refer to California as “Cali”. It cheapens the best state in the US. It is the most white trash term I have ever
heard and it drives me crazy, so stop doing it you people who don’t know any
better. Knock it off already!
